One Distraction
One life gone

You don’t get a second chance to pay attention.

TAKE ACTION

Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 4.6 seconds. At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of an entire football field, blindfolded.

MISSION

PRESENCE IS EVERYTHING

On November 4, 2024, a distracted driver took the life of 16-year-old Mitchell Sterling.

Mitchell’s legacy is our call to action: end distracted driving and make sure no other family experiences this preventable loss.

The Mitchell Sterling Foundation exists to change how distracted driving is investigated and prevented, ensuring accountability and saving lives.

STORY

MITCHELL'S STORY

Mitchell Sterling was a son, brother, friend, and dreamer. His future was full of possibilities — college, travel, and a pilot’s license were on his list.

On a fall evening in Valparaiso, Indiana, that future was cut short by a distracted driver. Despite the driver’s admission to being on the phone, insufficient evidence protocols meant there were no consequences.

This isn’t just Mitchell’s story.
It’s a call to action.

Without accountability, there can be no justice. Without justice, there can be no change.
